This triptych is inspired by Japanese monk Sengai – by his most famous painting ‘Maru-Sankaku-Shikaku’ to be precise, which depicts ‘only’ a circle, a square and a triangle. The painting is often called “The Universe” when referred to in English. All artworks in this set are from the Taogram series focusing on minimal and abstract gestures, related to Shodo (Japanese calligraphy).
